Continental Tyres face-up to fuel increases with whole-life cost advantage
Continental Tyres says choosing the right tyre for your road transport application is key to making long-term cost savings and reducing whole-life costs. With this in mind Continental offers commercial vehicle operators a holistic solution to tyre management in the form of ContiLifeCycle. This cradle-to-grave tyre management product offering outlines how CV operators can save up to 25% on their tyre operating costs throughout the entire life of the tyre, therefore ensuring they get maximum value for money from their Continental tyres.
Jill Rodgers, Marketing Manager, Commercial Products at Continental, said, "It is very important for operators to look at the whole-life cost of a specific tyre before purchase. Budget tyres can seem more attractive to a commercial vehicle operator because they have a lower purchase price compared to a premium-brand product. However, the cheaper cost price can be misleading as our extensive internal tests show that a budget tyre won't match a premium tyre in terms of low rolling resistance, safety and retreadability".
To demonstrate the influence of rolling resistance on fuel economy, Continental conducted an in-depth test at the Millbrook Proving Ground:

Each and every Continental truck and coach tyre is designed with ContiLifeCycle in mind. By integrating this service into all its products, operators stand to benefit from additional mileage and potentially four lives from their tyres.
It starts with choosing the right tyre for the specific road transport application, be it long distance, inter-urban or city-based driving. Continental estimates that a third of operating costs derived from a truck-and-trailer combination are influenced, positively or negatively, by the choice of a new tyre.
Once the new tread has worn, then depending on the application, the customer can then regroove the tyre to extend the operating life even further. Once the regrooved tyre reaches the end of its use the operator can then retread the tyre.
Continental's high-quality casings ensure that its tyres can be retreaded and undergo a full examination by its engineers before being given a brand new tread. ContiRe is a premium retread range, which offers all the inherent benefits of a new premium tyre - i.e improved mileage, reduced fuel consumption, superior rolling resistance and reduced operational efficiency - just at a lower purchase price.
As all Continental's products are manufactured to exacting standards, the retreaded tyres can be regrooved for a second and final time, therefore giving the customer complete cost transparency throughout the life of the tyre.

Teleroute customers will further increase time efficiency with a renewed service

Brussels, 19th March 2011- Teleroute announces a successful roll out of its renewed service Teleroute PRO. Since 1985 that the company has continuously been innovating in the online freight and vehicles exchange, and after a deep understanding of its customer needs it has brought them an enhanced, faster, better and easier to use service aiming to improve their operations efficiency.
Teleroute is always challenging itself to improve what it offers to its customers to even better answer their needs. With close attention to customers’ feedback and needs, Teleroute has been able to simplify the daily task of searching for freight offerings by creating a faster, better and easier version of Teleroute PRO. Last year, after carefully assessing the results of the customer satisfaction survey, a prototype of the new service version was given to a selected customer user group. Users’ feedback was gathered, analysed and finally implemented. The launch took place between end of January and beginning of February, currently having more than 96% of its Teleroute PRO users already utilizing it.
Teleroute PRO is a powerful web-based freight and vehicle exchange that has been created for haulers and freight forwarders, be it customers with high offer of freights (posting) and truck capacity available (consultation). The re-launched version grants faster results, better search functionalities and ease of use.
