Meet the RHA trainers

The RHA employ many trainers of various backgrounds and skill sets to provide a comprehensive training portfolio to fulfil all customer needs.

Steve Ellis - Head of RHA TrainingSteve Ellis

Steve Ellis has been involved in the Logistics industry for over 30 years.

His first position as a Transport Manager was with a small family firm at Heathrow Airport in 1978.

This was followed by a number of interesting and challenging roles in the industry encompassing a wide range of operational areas.

On leaving TDG after 12 years, Steve joined the RHA in 1999. He was instrumental in the development of RHA Training from its conception 10 years ago and now heads up this leading Training Organisation which is at the forefront of developing solutions to the Industry’s training needs.

Bob Auchterlonie Bob Auchterlonie

 Bob has been involved in the transport industry since the age of 21, initially gaining his Class 3 licence and progressing through Class 2 to Class 1.  Bob has over 35 years’ experience in a wide variety of relevant skills.

Bob’s role within RHA Training is to present seminars on a variety of subjects which include drivers hours’ rules, digital tachograph training, operator’s licence compliance courses and risk assessments relevant to the transport industry.

Arnold Monk Arnold Monk

Arnold has worked as a trainer for RHA training since January 2007 joining the team with a background in the road haulage, storage and transport training sectors going back 25 years. Previously working at management level in training businesses. 

Transport manager CPC is one of Arnold’s strengths with over 20 years experience of the qualification and hundreds of successful candidates.

Brian KennyBrian Kenny

Brian has over twenty years experience in the transport environment, spending his early years repairing HGV’s for one of the largest council fleets in Scotland. He has been involved with the movement of hazardous goods both on land and sea, arranged the delivery of furniture into people’s homes and even the movement of the odd rock band.

Brian has a diploma in safety management as well as the NEBOSH certificate in occupational safety and health, and the national and international CPC in Road Haulage. He is also a DSA approved driving instructor and fleet instructor as well as a DGSA.

His specialist areas include in vehicle instructor training, workplace transport safety and horse transportation.

John DavisJohn Davis

John has been in the industry for nearly 31 years and spent the first 15-years as a UK and International CE driver, running into Spain, Italy, Portugal and France, mainly delivering groupage items and on occasions some specialised installation work.

John is now involved in teaching law and legislation in the transport industry, advanced driving, yard shunting, fuel efficiency, driver assessor courses and national freight CPC.

Terry Collins

 Terry Collins

Terry has been with the RHA for 9 years, joining after being the national training manager from the then Exel PLC (now DHL) on the Comet contract. Terry has spent most of his career since leaving the forces in the transport sector in a variety of roles from driver to transport manager to training manager.

He now specialises in the health and safety side of the transport industry.

Simon WestSimon West

Simon is the 3rd generation of his family to be involved in the transport industry; he initially gained his class 3 licence in the military then progressing to class one.

Simons 24 years of experience in the industry mainly come from refrigerated, retail and container transport

Since moving in to training Simon has worked for a number of national advanced driver training providers and is a DSA approved training instructor and DSA registered fleet instructor

Simon continues to specialise in advanced driver training as well as presenting Driver CPC seminars for the Association
