Oliver Kenny - Business Support Administrator at RHA Training in Scotland

To mark Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2022, we’re featuring some of our apprentices who are currently training through our apprenticeship programme. We speak to Oliver Kenny who is currently studying on a Level 6 Driving Goods apprenticeship to find out about his journey so far.

What apprenticeship are you studying?

I’m a Business Support Administrator at RHA Training in Scotland.

What have you enjoyed so far?

I have enjoyed learning lots of new skills such as how to confidently answer the phone and sell our training to customers, and make good relationships with them. I’ve also learned  how to use our various systems.

I have increased my team building skills, my confidence and have met lots of good people during this time.

During this time I have done work on Spotler which is a marketing platform to create a training email for our office in Bathgate so we can promote our courses.

I have also done lots of work for the new website and making sure that it looks great; I will also help in getting our Scotland social media pages up and running so we can showcase the great work we do.

What are you hoping to do in the future?

I’m hoping to continue at the RHA in a business role as I really like doing sales and marketing; I feel I can contribute to the RHA more in the future.

I’m also looking forward to gaining more skills and experience from working with the admin team when I move over.

Why would you recommend doing an apprenticeship?

I would recommend doing an apprenticeship because you gain so much experience and new skills that you can carry over to other jobs, or to do new roles in the company that you are a part of.

This benefits people who are not used to working in employment and provides them with the confidence they need to begin their career.
