Nightmare Scenes at Truck Stops due to New Laws

2nd November 2017

Scenes at truck stops have been a nightmare ever since the DVSA began to punish drivers who take their weekly rest breaks in cabs outside formal rest areas.

The situation was particularly bad at Kent’s Ashford Truckstop with over 200 trucks turned away because of the lack of parking space on Monday night.

The RHA are worried that many operators won’t know of the change in the law and could be fined if they park inappropriately.

Rest facilities are few and far between for lorry drivers, and for this to work we think that changes to the current, poorly equipped infrastructure must be made in order to keep Britain’s economy moving.
