The RHA has joined 22 other business groups in writing to First Minister, John Swinney, urging him not to introduce a statutory cap on food and drink prices in Scotland.
A price cap won't touch the real drivers of cost such as fuel, energy, and distribution. Instead, it squeezes the supply chain harder, and haulage operators end up absorbing even more pressure at a time when insolvencies are hitting our sector hard.
We urge Scottish Ministers to withdraw the Food Price Cap proposal, and work with retailers and the supply chain to tackle the factors which are leading to elevated prices.
