Last week, the RHA became the first organisation in the UK to achieve a Diabetes Safe Accreditation.

This week at the RHA Future Forum event in Birmingham, the association is launching its new Diabetes Safe Driving Guidance for employers.

The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has become the first organisation in the country to receive official accreditation as Diabetes Safe from the Diabetes Safety Organisation, marking a significant milestone in workplace health and safety. This accreditation recognises the RHA's commitment to understanding and managing diabetes-related risks within the road transport sector.

Commenting, RHA Managing Director, Richard Smith said:

"Diabetes is a hidden but growing risk in our industry and across the country. This welcome accreditation shows we're serious about protecting our people and leading by example in actively addressing emerging health challenges"

This week, we're launching brand new Diabetes Safe Driving Guidance for Employers in the transport sector (HGV, Coach and Van Operators) which will be unveiled in full at the RHA Future Forum and is available for download below.

Richard added

"This new and comprehensive guidance will provide practical support for employers in managing diabetes-related safety considerations in their operations. It explains
clearly what diabetes means for driving, what responsibilities are as an employer, and, crucially - the practical steps businesses can take to reduce risks and
support their people."
