RHA RESPONDS TO HEAVY VEHICLE TESTING SCHEME DECISION

The RHA has expressed disappointment following the Department for Transport's announcement that no changes will be made to the heavy vehicle testing scheme for DVSA Earned Recognition (ER) members.

Commenting, RHA Head of Technical, Aaron Peters said:

"We're disappointed the consultation has concluded that testing requirements will remain unchanged. ER operators strive for excellence by voluntarily signing up and ensuring compliance with robust standards.

"The proposed changes would have eased the burden on HGV testing capacity and reduced reliance on DVSA staff, while maintaining current road safety levels."

As the UK's largest dedicated trade body representing HGV and Coach operators, our membership represents a large cross-section of businesses directly impacted by this decision.

"While we're disappointed that industry feedback hasn't been taken on board this time, we'll continue to engage with DVSA and DfT in further discussions about streamlining processes and evolving systems on behalf of our members and our sector."
