Health and safety

Vehicles at work continue to be a major cause of fatalities and serious injuries. Every year there are over 5000 incidents involving transport in the workplace with approximately 50 of these incidents resulting in people losing their lives.

While the industry has taken great strides to improve health and safety, 5000 incidents is 5000 too many.  People working in the road haulage industry must continue to recognise the importance of health and safety and implement the necessary strategies to ensure accidents are kept to a minimum.

The Health and Safety Executive provides a wealth of information and guidance on workplace safety: from slips, trips and falls to road risk and mechanical handling equipment guidance and how to control risks in the workplace.
