Notification of Roadworks: A34 Beedon to Chilton Resurfacing Scheme
A34 Beedon to Chilton Resurfacing Scheme
Highways Agency will be carrying out a major maintenance scheme to resurface a section of both the north and southbound carriageways of the A34 between Beedon (West Berkshire) and Chilton (Oxfordshire). The work is required to ensure the carriageway remains in a safe and serviceable condition.
Resurfacing will take place in both lanes along approximately 1.5 miles of the southbound carriageway and 3 miles of the northbound carriageway.
The scheme is scheduled to start on Monday 13 August 2012 and is expected to take up to four weeks to complete. For the safety of the workforce and road users and to keep overall disruption to a minimum, work will be carried out overnight between 9.00pm and 6.00am (Monday to Friday) when traffic flows are at their lowest.
Southbound carriageway resurfacing
It is scheduled that work will take place on the southbound carriageway from Monday 13 August for 4 nights. Convoy traffic management will be in place which will involve a lane closure on the southbound carriageway and speed restrictions of 40mph on the approach to the traffic management and 10mph past the worksite.
Northbound carriageway resurfacing
It is scheduled that work will take place on the northbound carriageway from Friday 17 August for 16 nights and will be carried out using full overnight closures of the A34 northbound carriageway from Chieveley (M4 Junction 13) to the Milton Interchange. The northbound entry slip-roads at Beedon, East Ilsley and West Ilsley will also be closed overnight. Confirmed dates for these closures will be displayed on black/yellow signs along the A34 and on the Highways Agency website.
During all closures, clearly signed diversion routes will be in place for both local traffic and motorway traffic.
