Developing our people
At RHA, we are committed to creating opportunities that help everyone grow, build confidence, and reach their potential, both in their current roles and for the future.
Some of the Learning & Development (L&D) opportunities we provide are:
Leadership Training
Since 2023, we have developed an Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) recognised programme designed to support both existing and aspiring leaders across RHA.
This programme equips participants with the practical skills, confidence and knowledge needed to lead effectively in a dynamic and regulated industry. It focuses on core leadership capabilities such as communication, people management, decision-making and performance development, while encouraging consistent leadership standards across RHA.
By investing in accredited leadership training, we are strengthening our leadership pipeline, supporting career development.
Lead with Women in Transport
We are proud to have an ongoing advocate partnership with Women in Transport. This UK-based not-for-profit network empowers women in the transport industry through networking, mentoring, professional development and leadership opportunities.
Each year, we offer a place to one of our employees on Women in Transport’s Lead Development Programme which is open for all employees to apply.
This programme focuses on identifying your natural leadership and management style, increasing confidence, and building influencing and communication skills.
Transport Qualifications
Alongside delivering training to industry professionals, we also invest in recognised transport qualifications for our people, including Transport CPC, ADR and Compliance.
This commitment to L&D ensures our teams remain knowledgeable, compliant and up to date with evolving industry standards. By supporting accredited qualifications, we not only strengthen individual capability and career progression, but also reinforce high standards of safety, professionalism and operational excellence across the business.

Professional Memberships
We believe in supporting our people to grow and develop throughout their careers. As part of this commitment, RHA covers the cost of one annual professional membership relevant to an individual’s role, including recognised professional or industry bodies in areas such as Leadership, HR, Finance, or Transport and Logistics.
These memberships provide access to learning resources, industry insights, and professional networks, helping our people stay informed, build confidence, and develop their expertise.
By investing in these opportunities, we foster personal growth, professional pride, and a culture of continuous learning at RHA.
Developing our workplace
At RHA, L&D also plays a key role in shaping our culture and working environment. We are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive workplace—one that promotes understanding, confidence, and positive behaviours, and enables everyone to feel respected, valued, and able to thrive.
Some of the achievements we are proud to have in place are:
Armed Forces Covenant
RHA is proud to be a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring members of the Armed Forces community and their families are treated fairly.
We were awarded the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) in 2020 in recognition of our ongoing support for the recruitment and employment of veterans, reservists, and forces families.
We actively advertise roles through Armed Forces networks, offer guaranteed interviews where skills align, and support reservist training through Armed Forces-friendly HR policies.
Diabetes Safe
We are proud to be accredited as Diabetes Safe since 2025 — the first organisation in the country to achieve this recognition from the Diabetes Safety Organisation (DSO).
DSO is a UK-based organisation that helps employers understand and manage the safety risks and business impacts of diabetes in the workplace to create safer, more informed and compliant working environments.
In partnership with DSO, our employees undertake annual training on diabetes safety, we train our first aiders in how to use hypo kits, and have deployed hypo kits at all RHA sites, with specific diabetes risk assessments for employees.
Disability Confident
Disability Confident is a government scheme supporting employers to make the most of the talents of disabled people in the workplace.
We have been a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) since 2018 and are one of over 18,000 businesses committed to getting the right people and developing employees with disabilities.
We welcome applications from people with disabilities and long-term health conditions and provide reasonable adjustments throughout recruitment and employment at RHA.
The Sunday Times Best Place to Work
We are proud to have been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Place to Work in both 2024 and 2025. This award is based on anonymous employee feedback.
The insights from the survey help us understand what we do well and where we can improve, shaping a workplace culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and engaged.
Achieving this recognition for two consecutive years reflects our continued commitment to listening to our people and creating a positive, inclusive, high-performing environment where individuals can develop, collaborate and thrive.
