The Tanker Group

Membership of this group is open to hauliers who are involved in the carriage of bulk liquids, powders, or gases for hire-or-reward, in road tankers or tank containers. The group meets three or four times a year, usually in the north of England.

The group maintains representation at meetings convened by a range of government departments and industry bodies concerned with development of regulations. An example would be the current review by the SQA of ADR: driver training, vehicle equipment specifications, vehicle design and construction and operational performance connected with the safe carriage of bulk liquids, powders and gases.

The group’s recent work includes the updating of the guidance on the prevention of falls from road tankers. This is a protocol document jointly produced by the Health & Safety Executive and the Road Haulage Association.

The annual subscription of £60.00 + VAT maintains the group's special purposes fund which is used to support group activities such as the purchase of training videos and the subsidy of safety training courses.
