Abnormal Loads Group

The Abnormal Loads Group is for members who specialise in the transport of abnormal and indivisible loads, wide loads generally and members associated with the movement of mobile homes, caravans and boats.

Some of these movements may fall within the C&U Regulations but many may well be subject to a Special Type General Order (STGO). The size and weight depicting which set of regulations apply. Specialist conditions of carriage are available for abnormal load movements.

The group maintains formal and informal communications with government and its agencies and with other representative trade bodies, including the Association of Chief Police Officers or equivalent, the National Highways , Network Rail, British Waterways, bridge and structure owners and local authorities.

The group will work through the secretary and its elected committee, which meets three times a year, or as required to debate and discuss issues of concern.
