HGV Heroes: Celebrating the industry’s finest​

The RHA’s new HGV Heroes campaign aims to recognise the industry’s workers and the hard work they do.

From now until 13 August, drivers, logistics champions, admin teams and other members of the haulage industry can be nominated as an HGV Hero.

Book roadworthiness test dates from Monday 29 June

DVSA have confirmed that Roadworthiness Testing dates in GB will start to be allocated from Monday 29 June.

Testing slots will initially only be made for July, but further tests will be allocated in the coming weeks.

Only sites approved by the DVSA as compliant with Covid-19 health measures will be carrying out tests.

 

Resumption of testing in Northern Ireland

The Driver & Vehicle Agency in Northern Ireland will resume MOT testing for priority vehicle groups from Monday 20 July. This will kick start a phased return of MOT services in the region.

However, this doesn’t include goods vehicles or trailers except for the ADR/IVA tests already being taken.
They will be phased in at some stage during August – we’ll update you when we know more.

Traffic commissioners to resume in-person hearings

The traffic commissioners have announced that in-person tribunal hearings will resume from Monday 6 July.

Each tribunal location has been risk assessed and appropriate control measures identified. Steps will be put in place to maintain social distancing and ensure that facilities are COVID-secure.

 

London Congestion Charge increased this week

From Monday 22 June, London’s Congestion Charge has increased to £15, and will operate between 07:00 and 22:00, seven days a week.

The RHA has responded to Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s announcement, which you can read here.

Last month the RHA called on the mayor to exempt goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes from the Congestion Charge saying it would simplify operations and save money for the sector’s customers.
