RHA welcomes plug-in HGV grant scheme extension

Earlier today, the Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood MP announced that the Government are extending the Plug-in Truck Grant scheme for another year as part of their Net Zero plans. This also follows an announcement on charging infrastructure.

Commenting on this, RHA Senior Policy Lead Chris Ashley said:

"We’ve been clear that by reducing the costs of decarbonisation and ensuring the required infrastructure is in place, our sector can prepare and fully play its part on the road to Net Zero.

"We welcome the extension of the plug-in grant for trucks for another year. However, additional financial support will be needed to help hauliers and coach operators to decarbonise viably.

Key to this is ensuring stable residual values that allow finance to be offered on favourable terms. We are working with the Green Finance Institute to develop options that address this.”

The RHA recently launched its industry wide Net Zero survey asking operators for their views on decarbonising HGV, coach, and van fleets.

The survey can be completed via HERE. It will close at 5pm on Tuesday 15 April.
