Dangerous goods

Dangerous goods have their own legislative issues which must be fully understood before carriage can be accepted.

The RHA engages with government and other bodies on regulatory and guidance changes and ensures that they are communicated to members. Those bodies include the Department for Transport’s Industry Advisory Group for the Security of Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail, WP15, RID/ADR/ADN joint meeting and UN briefing meetings.

The RHA’s dangerous goods specialist manager offers members advice on the movement of loads of this type. There are exemptions for some goods which fall mainly under limited quantity and small load limits. Further useful advice can be found at the Health and Safety Executive website: http://www.hse.gov.uk/cdg/index.htm
