Since 30 November 2014, toll charging at the Dartford Crossing in Kent has changed. In an effort to reduce congestion in the area, toll plazas have been removed and replaced with a remote, advanced payment system called ‘Dart Charge’.
Customers can pay toll fees online, by phone, post or at retail Payzone outlets, either before using the crossing or, until midnight the next day. Failure to pay will result in a penalty charge.
Exempt local residents can still use the crossing for free between 10.00am and 6.00pm. Existing ‘Dart Tag’ payees have been transferred over to the new payment scheme.
