In a bid to support employment opportunities in the road haulage and logistics sector, the RHA became a certified End Point Assessment (EPA) organisation in November 2017. Awarded by The Education and Skills Funding Agency (EFSA), this EPA status means that the RHA can conduct independent assessments and sign-off on (approved) Apprenticeship Training.
Currently there are three apprenticeship opportunities that have received the green light from the Government to fuel desperate shortage* in the road haulage and logistics sector:
- Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver Level 2 Apprenticeship
- Supply Chain Traffic Office Operator Level 2 Apprenticeship
- Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship
The RHA is dedicated to bridging the skills gap in the sector and doing everything it can to enable an influx of qualified individuals into the haulage and logistics industry.
“As the only association with sole responsibility for the road transport sector, and with a dedicated team of highly experienced Training Managers, the RHA can be regarded as a trusted EPA by Apprenticeship Training providers. The RHA knows the haulage industry inside out and the majority of our Training Managers have previously been employed as LGV drivers or Transport Managers and their experience is second to none,” said Mark Taylor, Head of Training and Development at the RHA.
Here are just some of the Apprenticeship Training Providers that have selected to use the RHA as their EPA organisation:
- Mantra Learning
- National Logistics Academy
- The Real Apprenticeship Company
- The Systems Group
- Yeovil College
“Due to its credibility in the road haulage industry, we feel that the RHA is the best placed organisation to conduct our EPAs. The assessors have the industry knowledge and expertise when it comes to identifying the qualities and behaviours that should be displayed by people looking to work in road haulage. From an EPA standpoint, we can be confident that we are getting an independent assessment from the experts. We can rest assured that the candidate has been assessed against some rigorous testing standards,” said Nick Rees, Managing Director of WTTL.

*According to Government statistics, the UK haulage industry is currently facing a shortage of between 45,000 and 50,000 LGV drivers.
