Investing in the Woolwich Ferry -Temporary Closures

Transport for London (TfL) is improving and upgrading the Woolwixh Free Ferry helping to ensure the service continues to provide a link across the River Thames for years to come.

Work is currently underway to upgrade both the north and south Woolwich Free Ferry piers. As part of this programme, TFL needs to undertake piling work, at both piers. We will try to keep noise to a minimum during these works.

Woolwich Free Ferry service suspended on:

  • Satuday 11 February & Sunday 12 February 2012
  • Saturday 18 February & Sunday 19 February 2012
  • Saturday 3 March & Sunday 4 March 2012
  • Saturday 10 March & Sunday 11 March 2012

Normal service will operate from 0610 on the Monday after each closure.

Traffic Diversions:
Whilst the Ferry Service is suspended, the nearest alternative river crossing for most vehicular traffic will be the A102 Blackwall Tunnel. Any North Bound Large Heavy Goods Vehicles, over 4 metres high, should use the Dartford Crossing (M25) instead.
