90/180 – Join our call for a professional driver’s exemption

The Entry/Exit System (EES) – which registers non-EU citizens entering and exiting the Schengen Area – will be operational from October.
The system will ensure rigorous enforcement of rules restricting non-EU citizens to a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period (90/180).
This will have a profound impact on UK-based coach, haulage and live events logistics businesses operating internationally as the restrictions will apply to their drivers.
UK events operators are world leading in their field which is why they’re often the ‘go-to’ for organisers when top artists perform in Europe. But that’s now under threat… and so is other international work. A recent survey revealing that many affected operators anticipate significantly reducing their workforces, with more than half expecting fewer journeys into the EU.
We need to act now and it’s why we’re reinforcing our call for a professional drivers’ exemption – a visa-free arrangement for people working in sectors that rely on frequent, short-term movement across the EU.
We’re working with operators and trade bodies, and lobbying MPs and government departments to raise awareness with ministers as we try to protect businesses and people’s jobs.
I’d urge you to help us build on this momentum by calling on your MP to support our call for a professional driver’s exemption with EES enforcement drawing closer. I’d ask you to encourage your drivers and other colleagues to do the same.
