New online DVLA driver digital card application

Drivers can now apply and pay online for their driver digital tachograph card from DVLA, which is quicker and simpler than a paper application.

The new DVLA digital service lets you apply, renew or replace a lost or stolen card in minutes and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please note, however, that damaged or malfunctioning digital cards can only be replaced via paper applications.

The new tachograph card will be issued within 24 hours from applying online compared to 10 days or more if you post your application. To apply online drivers will need a valid GB photocard driving licence and a credit or debit card.

After applying the driver will receive an email notification from DVLA confirming their application, and they can choose to be updated on its progress by text message. The driver digital tachograph card online application service can be accessed here.

Paper applications are taking longer than normal so if drivers do need to renew or replace their card they are encouraged to use the online service to get your card quicker.
