RHA celebrating road transport workers going the extra mile

10 May 2021 Posted By Josh Reynolds

The RHA is celebrating UK transport and logistics professionals in a new campaign launching today (Monday 10 May).

RHA Heroes is the trade body’s initiative to encourage the industry to recognise staff and teams who’ve gone the extra mile over the last year.

The five-week annual campaign – formerly HGV Heroes – has been expanded to include the coach and van sectors to reflect the RHA’s new membership base.

RHA Chief Executive, Richard Burnett is urging firms and others in the industry to nominate their colleagues and teams foran RHA Heroes award.

He said: “There’s no better time than after an exceptionally difficult year to acknowledge the amazing things people do day in, day out.

“We’re asking people in our industry to recognise drivers, mechanics, warehouse staff, admin teams, and anyone else who deserves an award.”

The campaign has its own website and will feature prominently on the RHA’s social media and news channels.

All nominations will receive an RHA Heroes ‘Thank You’ certificate before a panel of industry figures decide on a winning RHA Hero or team of heroes; they’ll get an ‘experience prize’ of their choice to the value of £1,000.

Closing date for entries is Sunday 6 June.

RHA Managing Director, Richard Smith presented a lorry-mad Buckinghamshire primary school boy an HGV Heroes award last week.

Five-year-old Henry Ellison (now six) from Newport Pagnell went to his school’s superhero day last year dressed as an HGV driver. His classmates who’d turned up in more traditional superhero attire such as Superman couldn’t understand why he came as he did. He told them: “I’m an HGV Hero!”
