Dover – Advice for coach operators to minimise half term delays

Paul Mummery 04 Feb 2026

The Port of Dover reminds coach operators that the upcoming February half term will be exceptionally busy.

Peak times for EU-bound traffic will be Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February between 3pm-11pm each day.

The Port urges operators to arrive no more than two hours earlier than their sailing time to help keep passengers and vehicles moving efficiently – coaches arriving before then will be ‘triaged and turned away’.

Passengers should have their passports ready before disembarking to minimise border check delays; and operators should be aware that transit times are slower with the adoption of the new EU Enry/Exit System (EES).
