Driver CPC five-year cycle deadline approaching - are your drivers up to date?

Hauliers should be reminded that for those drivers who gained their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) before 2019, the deadline to renew in September is fast approaching.

Drivers must complete 35 hours of CPC every five years and the deadline to complete the CPC training for many is Monday 9 September.

We understand that huge numbers of Driver Qualification Cards (DQC) are due to run out, so operators should encourage drivers to check that they have completed 35 hours. They can do that HERE.

If they haven’t completed it yet we would urge that they do so as soon as possible.

If they miss the deadline then they cannot drive professionally until they finish their training, and they could be fined up to £1,000 for driving professionally without having a Driver CPC.

Here’s some government guidance on missing the training deadline: https://www.gov.uk/driver-cpc-training/if-you-miss-your-training-deadline.
