Employment rights bill needs to find the right balance

Commenting on the Employment Rights Bill and focusing on the importance of finding the right balance, our Managing Director Richard Smith said:
  

"It is important that we get the balance right with this legislation. It’s key that the cost and administrative burdens being placed on businesses, particularly SMEs don’t become too great as we want to avoid legislation that stalls job creation and limits opportunities. 

"To achieve the growth that the Government seeks, it’s vital that we encourage businesses to start up, invest and grow.

"As this process progresses, businesses will seek assurances from decision-makers and must be given the right support with any changes they need to make to their processes and practices ahead of the final legislation being implemented.

"We therefore want Government to meaningfully engage with industry directly to ensure that this bill delivers fairness and protections without stifling the entrepreneurial spirit that’s required to fuel and grow a modern economy."
