London’s Direct Vision Standard – your questions answered

We have created a Direct Vision Standard (DVS) FAQ document to provide clarity for operators.

Many transport businesses have raised concerns over the lack of clarity provided by Transport for London (TfL) regarding the new Progressive Safe System (PSS) standard. This document seeks to answer your queries.

This is a live document which will be updated with any new information as it is made available. View it HERE.

Use the FAQ alongside the DVS Explainer document which sets out what a Blind Spot Information System and Moving Off Information System should do.

Hauliers with trucks of more than 12 tonnes operating in London must meet TfL’s PSS which launches on 28 October.

Officials have announced that the “grace period” will be extended to six months – with enforcement of the new standard pushed back to 4 May 2025 after intense RHA campaigning.

TfL says firms intending to apply for the grace period will need to provide evidence before the 28 October 2024 that they have installation works arranged to fit the PSS within the six-month grace period to qualify for it.
