London ULEZ Scrappage Scheme - get up to £9,500 for your van or minibus

Transport for London have introduced a scrappage scheme as part of its ULEZ expansion. This will be incorporating all 32 of London’s boroughs in a bid to make the city more eco-friendly. Part of this includes affecting van and minibus operators who face a daily £12.50 charge if their vehicle does not have a Euro-6 engine.
The ULEZ van and minibuses scrappage scheme will see eligible vans and minibuses given a grant of £5,000 to £9,500 to be retrofitted with cleaner engines or scrapped if they meet government criteria. The scheme is open to micro businesses with up to 10 employees, sole traders and registered charities. Your organisation must be based out of one of the 32 boroughs of London or the City of London.
Eligibility:
- A light van (up to and including 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight or minibus (up to and including 5 tonnes) registered to an eligible organisation for more than 12 months before the start of the scrappage scheme on 30 January 2023
- Registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in the name of the business, sole trader or charity
- Certified with valid road tax and MOT
- Pre-Euro 6 diesel vehicles and pre-Euro 4 petrol vehicles
- A replacement vehicle must be:
- A fully electric light van (up to and including 3.5 tonnes) or a fully electric minibus (up to and including 5 tonnes)
- Purchased or on a hire/lease contract that is at least two years long
- The same body type (van or minibus) as the vehicle scrapped.
- To retrofit, the vehicle must be:
- A light van (up to and including 3.5 tonnes) or minibus (up to and including 5 tonnes) registered to an eligible organisation for more than 12 calendar months before the start of the scrappage scheme on 30 January 2023
- Registered with the DVLA in the name of the business, sole trader or charity
- On the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme register
- Retrofitted by a CVRAS-approved company with an approved emissions reduction system.
The scheme will be live until the ULEZ expansion is implemented on the 29th of August 2023. You will need to create an online Road User Account to apply.
