RHA's 2024 Cost Movement Report Now Available

The Bank of England and other financial and economic bodies are predicting that next year will see a stagnant economy at best.
We have just published our annual cost movement indicator. As we have stated previously, the Coach and Haulage sector are fundamental in keeping the economy moving, supporting and driving economic growth and prosperity for us all.
Members' costs for operating a 44-tonne artic and trailer combination (excluding fuel) have increased by 9.2 percent this year.
This comes as freight volumes are down 10-15 percent, and a record number of hauliers are leaving the industry.
Costs are rising faster than inflation, profits have fallen, and hauliers are saying that customers are unable to pay increases.
Supporting our industry on reducing costs and simplifying regulation is a key RHA priority to help drive business on our roads. We continue to campaign for a freeze on fuel duty – and an emissions-linked rebate to support firms to adopt cleaner fuels such as HVO as the industry decarbonises.
