Sally Gilson receives Carmen Award of Merit

The RHA is proud to announce that Sally Gilson, Policy Lead - Skills and Drivers, has been awarded the Award of Merit by the Worshipful Company of Carmen at their annual Woodmongers’ Banquet in London. The Award of Merit is presented to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service, commitment, and impact within the transport industry. 

Sally Gilson has been central to promoting skills, training, and workforce development. Skills remain one of the RHA’s six Priorities, with the association committed to ensuring that the sector is future-proofed and equipped to meet growing demand. 

The award was presented by Richard Turfitt, Acting Traffic Commissioner for Scotland, Senior Traffic Commissioner, and Traffic Commissioner for the East of England. 


Commenting on the award, Richard Smith, RHA Managing Director, said:


“We're thrilled to see Sally recognised for her work in championing skills and training across the road transport sector. This recognition by the Carmen is a well-earned honour and a testament to the importance of workforce development. ”




Captain Julian Litchfield RN, Worshipful Company of Carmen said:


"We are proud to recognise the excellent contribution of Sally Gilson both to the work of the Road Haulage Association and the transport sector in general which has been outstanding. She is fully deserving of the Award of Merit”.
