04 Aug 2025 Posted By Ashley Fraser

An amber weather warning has been issued for much of Scotland as Storm Floris is set to bring "unseasonably strong" and potentially "danger to life" winds across the region today, Monday, 4 August, 2025. The Met Office's warning is in effect from 10:00 BST until 22:00 BST, with a wider yellow warning covering the northern of England and Northern Ireland. The storm poses particular threats to haulage and coach operators across the region.

Gusts of 50-70mph are expected widely across Scotland, with exposed coastal areas, hills, and bridges potentially seeing winds exceeding 80mph, possibly up to 90mph in some areas. Western coastal regions will experience the highest gusts this morning, with the strongest winds shifting towards northeastern Scotland by late afternoon.

Significant travel disruption is anticipated.
