One month remaining to register for compensation

  • A group legal action brought by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) is seeking compensation for hauliers who overpaid for trucks as a result of a cartel of truck manufacturers.
  • Hauliers that purchased or leased new trucks over six tonnes between 17 January 1997 and 31 January 2014 and hauliers that purchased or leased used trucks between 17 January 1997 and 31 January 2015 are eligible to opt in.
  • The claim covers all makes of trucks.
  • An estimated 600,000 trucks are said to have been affected.
  • You do not have to be a member of the RHA to opt in.
  • Thousands of UK businesses have already registered.

UK hauliers that were affected by a cartel of truck manufacturers have until 28 February 2025 to opt into a class action being brought by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) in the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

The claim is being brought as an opt in class action, which means that anyone who is eligible must opt in, in order to be eligible for compensation if it is awarded. Eligible claimants can opt in via: www.truckcartellegalaction.com

Those eligible to opt in include companies, firms and individuals who purchased or leased new and used trucks of six tonnes and over, registered in the UK between:

  • 17 January 1997 and 31 January 2014 for new trucks.
  • 17 January 1997 and 31 January 2015 for used trucks.

Personal representatives of the estate of any person falling within the class who died on or after 17 July 2018 can also opt in.

UK truck operators can opt in here: www.truckcartellegalaction.com

The 28 February 2025 deadline is an extension to the original opt in deadline in order to allow as many hauliers as possible to sign up in time. The RHA secured an extension from the CAT as a result of the number of truck owners who are signing up to join.
