Abnormal Load Movements Through Scotland

Police Scotland have announced that they will no longer provide police escorts for the movement of abnormal loads through Scotland, without receipt of a signed hard copy of the 'Minute of Agreement for abnormal loads' (The Financial Vetting Check).
Police Scotland have released the following statement:
The Minute of Agreement for abnormal loads has been amended and will soon begin being issued to hauliers. Due to the lack of hauliers signing and returning this last time it was reviewed, the decision has been taken that we will not provide any escort services until this has been signed and returned in pdf format initially.
After which, we will arrange any escort required at that time but will not grant any more escort services until the hard copy signed document is received by Police Scotland and a credit reference check has been completed.
Finance protocol is to conduct credit checks and set credit limits prior to any credit being given. It is because we understand the quick turnaround time needed by some hauliers that we will agree to one movement without the credit check having been completed.
The contents of the new agreement do not vary greatly to how we operate at present, other than the need for the Minute of Agreement to be signed/returned and a credit reference check in advance of credit terms being agreed. This and any other changes are all as a result of our learning experience over the past few years.
