Fuel and Cost Saving Measures – DfT Want Your Views

07 Feb 2024 Posted By Joe Scotting

The Department for Transport (DfT) want insight into how your firm is saving money and fuel to better support the industry.

Firms are feeling the squeeze from fuel cost fluctuation, leading to a need to implement fuel and cost saving measures such as specialised training or equipment to keep fuel usage to a minimum, increasing overall profits.

DfT, in partnership with The Freight Portal, who advise hauliers on cutting fuel usage, are looking to understand the effect fuel and cost-cutting measures implemented by haulage operator have on savings and emissions.

The survey features ten short, easy to answer questions on fuel and cost saving measures such as

driver training and fuel efficiency monitoring, energy efficient tyres and use of aerodynamics.

Answering this survey will give insight into current cost and fuel cutting actions haulage operators are taking. This will help DfT and Freight Portal develop processes that will help the industry maximise fuel efficiency and lower overall operational costs.
