Late Payments: Tackling poor payment practices- consultation

The Department of Business and Trade (DBT) has announced a consultation: “Late payments: tackling poor payment practices”, acknowledging the problem of late payments as a significant factor in causing business failures – particularly for SMEs.

The consultation seeks views on “a package of legislative measures aimed at addressing late payments, and ensuring businesses are paid fairly on time”.

It is critical the government are made aware of the effect late payments or other frivolous payment disputes have on businesses to design a regulatory or legal mechanism to counter this.
