RHA Parliamentary Reception next week

RHA Parliamentary Reception next week

14 Jan 2025 Posted By Joe Scotting

Next week members and industry stakeholders will join us in Parliament for the RHA reception.

Our annual reception is an opportunity for logistics operators to get together in Westminster to meet with Ministers, Shadow Ministers and MPs to raise issues of importance to us.

We are delighted that the UK Government Future of Roads Minister, Lilian Greenwood MP will be delivering the keynote speech to set out the new Government’s priorities for the logistics industry.

Other speakers include the Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee, Bill Esterson MP and the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Freight and Logistics, Rachel Taylor MP.

It is no secret that like the wider economy, the road haulage sector is also experiencing difficulties. Over the last two years our sector has seen record insolvencies and ever increasing costs. One of the key ways to address this challenge is to tackle congestion.

That is why we will be launching our latest report, The Future of Roads Report: Delivering Sustainable, Inclusive, Economic Growth

The value of our industry to the economy and society has been demonstrated like never before during the pandemic. And now, as we look ahead to 2025, the government is seized with the challenge of kickstarting economic growth and creating the conditions which allow British businesses to thrive.

In Spring of this year, the government will publish its Third Road Investment Strategy, outlining how it sees the relationship between the SRN and our economy evolving.

It is vital that at a time where businesses across the country are looking for certainty, that the government takes action now to deal with the challenges of congestion, lack of connectivity and unreliability which are often all too present on our road network.

We look forward to welcoming our guests next week and to hearing more about the government's strategy for the sector.
