October’s Roadway magazine is out now.
The Chancellor’s Budget is a major subject in this issue, as contributors consider what it may hold in store for industry essentials including fuel duty, tax, and road investment. There will be reaction to the Chancellor’s statement in November’s issue as its business implications become clear.
Finance is also a theme across our features when we look at rental markets, both truck and trailer. While cost management is a prime concern, the application of technology is also playing a role in decision making. Trailers, both new and refurbished, are now being fitted with electronic monitoring systems, reducing maintenance time.
Truck rental, meanwhile, is shaping up to be a testbed for electric trucks, with businesses choosing to rent electric rather than take the risk and make the plug-in truck an asset.
One of this industry’s great qualities is its work supporting charities and wider society which isn’t heralded often enough. This issue we have stories of drivers and operators reaching out to offer their time, their trucks and their employment opportunities, all to the greater good.
