We're calling for a visa exemption for British businesses operating in EU

This week's news that the EU is fast-tracking 50% tariffs on UK steel shows how quickly the trading landscape can shift. This will certainly add another dimension to the backdrop of the Prime Minister's ongoing EU reset plans.

However the British steel industry isn't the only sector facing an EU-related challenge that threatens British jobs. We're continuing to raise the alarm about the EU's Entry/Exit System launching on 12 October and the strict enforcement of the 90/180-day rule for UK passport holders. This will restrict non-EU nationals to spending only 90 days out of any 180 in the Schengen zone, making it incredibly difficult for hauliers and coach companies regularly travelling from the UK.

For British based international hauliers and coach operators, this isn't about bureaucracy, this will impact livelihoods. The UK international road transport market is being hollowed out. If there aren't changes soon, some operators will go out of business completely and will ultimately be replaced by EU-based competitors who could potentially expand into UK domestic work. The consequences are real with potential job losses across haulage and coaching sectors.

That's why we're calling for a visa exemption for British-based international workers and companies impacted by these restrictions.
