The Road Haulage Association welcomes and is pleased to support Skills Development Scotland’s Transition Training Fund. Established to increase training opportunities for those leaving the oil and gas sector the fund will help over 400 people gain the skills they need to move into other industries
RHA regional operations manager Brian Kenny said: “Transition Training Fund will offer people the chance to move into a number of industries including the haulage industry. Right now this industry is experiencing a massive skills shortage. We anticipate that in the next five years Scotland could face a shortage of up to 25,000 drivers and this is a great opportunity to help the industry get back on its feet.
To launch the initiative, Scottish Government Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy, Paul Wheelhouse visited RHA member Colin Lawson Transport in Aberdeen.
Commenting, Colin Lawson said: “The haulage industry can offer great careers for the right people with the right skills. We are committed to taking on more people via the Transition Training Fund who have retrained and who have shown their commitment to forging a new career in the haulage industry.
