RHA Training are incredibly proud to announce that RHA Trainer Tommy Twaddle has been nominated as a finalist in the New Service Leaver of the Year category at the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2022.

Since joining the RHA directly from the Army, Tommy has honed his training skills across a range of disciplines including HGV driver training, Dangerous Goods Training and Transport Manager CPC training.

Head of Training in Scotland and Northern Ireland Brian Kenny said: “We are immensely proud of Tommy, and he stands as a great example to anyone coming from service life.

“This is a fitting award for someone who has pushed himself really hard in a technical industry that is constantly evolving to ensure his training is the very best for his trainees.”

Largest celebration

The Ex-Forces in Business Awards, which claims to be one of the world’s largest such awards for ex-service personnel in second careers, seeks to celebrate those who have succeeded in ‘civvy street’.

The finalists of the 2022 Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards were whittled down from over 250 nominations. The winners are decided by an independent judging panel made up of 22 veterans and business leaders from major Scottish employers such as Addleshaw Goddard, Barclays, JPMorgan, Police Scotland and the Scottish Government.

“Heartening”

Lt. Gen. Sir Andrew Gregory, CEO at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, said: “As a former Chief of Defence People, and now CEO at SSAFA where one of our services is the provision of mentoring to assist those service leavers who need support during their transition, I am very aware of the challenges during the move into Civvy Street and just how crucial role models are.

“It is heartening to see such a large volume and breadth of employers acknowledging the skills and values of those who have served their country.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 25 May in the Hilton Glasgow’s Grand Ballroom.
