Roadworthiness testing allocations begin this week

The process to allocate roadworthiness testing dates will begin on 4 July 2020

Officials have announced that lorries and trailers have been given a three-month exemption from needing an MOT as tests were suspended because of COVID-19.
This means that the deadline to get your MOT has changed.

Furloughed workers can return from today

From today, 1 July 2020, furloughed workers can return to work on a flexible, part time basis.

Employees will still be entitled to receive at least 80% of their reference pay for non-working time (pro-rated against any working hours).

Financial support from the Treasury will be phased down from 1 August, with employers meeting the shortfall.

HGV Road User Levy suspended for 12 months from August

The Government has announced that the HGV Road User Levy will be suspended for a year.

The levy is applied to HGVs of 12 tonnes or more, but will be suspended from 1 August 2020 to 31 July 2021.

RHA training classrooms open from 6 July

The RHA’s in-person training facilities will be reopening with new health and safety measures from 6 July.

After closing in March due to concerns around Covid-19, the RHA has taken measures to ensure that we can continue to offer high-quality training in a safe, friendly environment.

Leicester back in Lockdown

Government has announced that a localised lockdown will be imposed in the Leicester area following a spike of COVID19 cases.

Whilst this is in place, our advice is to check the Leicestershire County Council website for latest details.

Driving lessons and tests to restart in England

DVSA have announced that driving lessons and tests will be resuming from 4 July, as the Government gives the go-ahead to restart driving tests in a Covid-secure way.

Theory tests will restart in England on Saturday 4 July. The tests will take place with social distancing measures in place to help stop the spread of coronavirus. You can find out more here.
