Reinstate coach parking to kickstart London tourism bounce back, RHA urges mayor

We’ve called on the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan to reinstate coach parking bays in Park Lane, central London as soon as possible.

The bays were suspended last year as part of the capital’s plans to repurpose street space for walking and cycling during the pandemic.

But coach operators need the parking facilities to make it viable to bring people back into London and help kickstart its economic recovery; they are critical infrastructure.

Coach travel is the mode of choice for a considerable portion of domestic tourism, we told the mayor today (Friday 4 June).

We reminded him that our industry played a substantial role in providing the most eco-friendly form of road transport for tourists to visit the capital before the pandemic.

We’ve asked Mr Khan for a meeting to discuss the high premium that daytime and overnight parking has been set at for many years.
