Ab Loads - lack of clarity driving up costs

Ab Loads - lack of clarity driving up costs

The Abnormal Loads Group continues to work together to discuss concerns and find solutions relating to abnormal loads. Firms are still telling us that police actions and a lack of clarity on regulations are delaying projects and increasing costs. Our collaborative work is ongoing as we strive for fairness, consistency and a common-sense approach.

Following last month’s meeting between the Abnormal Loads Group, police leaders and the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC), we know that abnormal load operators are awaiting publication of the updated NPCC guidance. We've recently heard from the NPCC that they are completing a final review of the updated document and now expect publication very early in the New Year.

We will keep operators updated as soon as we hear from the NPCC.

Over the past few years, the policing of Abloads has become more and more inconsistent creating a series of challenges for the haulage industry and the vital sectors it supports including caravans, construction, manufacturing and renewables.

The Abnormal Loads Group is supported by a cross section of leading industry trade bodies including RHA, HTA, NCC, and BHHPA.

Operators continue to seek further clarifications on regulations, and we'll continue our work together to seek clarity on behalf of our members.
